INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Cup Pumpkin, peeled and chopped

  • 1 Medium Tomato

  • 1 Medium Onion, chopped (optional)

  • 5-6 Lotus Seeds (Phool Makhana)

  • 1 tsp Pepper, ground

  • Butter or oil

  • Salt, as per taste

 

 METHOD for Kaddu Makhana Soup

  • Boil the pumpkin, whole tomato, onion and lotus seeds, with about two cups of water and salt, once veggies become soft and well-cooked.

  • Let it cool.

  • Blend the veggies and lotus seeds to a fine paste. Do not discard the water.

  • Melt butter / oil in a pan, add the freshly ground pepper. Saute for about half a minute.

  • Add the blend veggies along with the water. Stir well and let it come to a boil.

  • Simmer for about 5 minutes. Add water as per consistency requirement.

  • And, get ready for to soothe yourself !!

 

SUGGESTIONS

You also may cook pumpkin soup in pressure cooker but cooking of pressure cooker is not so good according to yogic tradition.

You also can keep lotus seeds unblended if you like to chew.
