Benefits of Sabudana Thalipeeth :-

Sabudana Thalipeeth is a good source of protein, which helps with muscle building, healing and strengthening. So vegetarians, turn to sabudana for your daily protein intake.

Sago is rich in iron and calciumwhich helps maintain bone health. You can prevent osteoporosis and other bone conditions by adding a regular dose of tapioca to your diet.

You can eat a bowl of soaked sabudana with a dash of chilli powder, salt and crushed peanuts to fight fatigue after a hectic day. Loaded with carbohydrates, Sago will make you feel energetic.

Regular consumption of sabudana keeps blood pressure levels under control. Also, the potassium present in it aids healthy blood flow and lowers the pressure on the cardiovascular system.

 

Ingredients :-

  • Sago pearls – ½ cup (soaked)

  • Rajgira (Amaranth) Flour – ½ cup (optional)

  • Potato – 2 (boiled) – use unpeeled if you are a weight watcher

  • Peanuts – 1 tbsp (coarsely grind)

  • Oil – 1 tbsp. – prefer sesame oil or olive oil

  • Ginger – 1 tsp (grated)

  • Green chilly – 2 (finely chopped)

  • Cumin seeds – ½ tsp

  • Coriander leaves – 2 spoon

  • Black pepper powder – ¼ tsp (freshly grind)

  • Sendha Namak (Rock salt) – ¾ tsp – as per taste.

Method / Directions & Preparation : –

 

Step 1

  1. Rinse 1 cup sago pearls and soak them in 1 cup of water minimum 2-3 hours to overnight. Drain out the excess water, if visible.

  2. Boil and peel the potatoes.

  3. Grate the boiled potatoes in a big mixing bowl.

  4. To the mashed potatoes add sago pearls.

  5. Further add flour, salt, black pepper, cumin seeds, green coriander, green chilly, peanuts and ginger in a big mixing bowl.

  6. Mix all ingredients really well and knead soft dough.

Step 2

Now !

  1. Preheat the tawa, for making Thalipeeth. Place a polythene sheet on rolling plate.

  2. Grease your hands with some oil / ghee. Pinch little amount of dough and make a 3-4 inch round dough ball.

  3. Flatten the dough ball with your hands and place it on the plastic sheet.

  4. Grease the dough ball with some oil / ghee and cover it with sheet.

  5. Now with help of hands or rolling pin, roll it into 3-4 inch diameter round sheet.

  6. Spread some oil / ghee on preheated tawa.

  7. Now separate the rolled thalipeeth from plastic sheet.

  8. Place it on tawa. Make a small hole in the center of thalipeeth.

  9. Pour some ghee in the hole as well as all around it.

  10. When the color gets dark on the surface, flip the side and cook until it gets golden brown on both sides.

  11. Transfer it to a plate. Likewise prepare rest of the sabudana thalipeeth.

Suggestions :-

You may use cows ghee for frying if you are not weight watcher.

Soak sago pearls overnight in water or at-least 2-3 hours minimum.

Do not over fry if you are weight watcher.

You may replace rajgira (amaranth flour) with water chestnut flour.

This recipe is even good in fasting & beneficial in weight loss & weight gain also.
